What: NYJavaSIG Cloud/HPC Workgroup - "Ehcache in the Cloud"
Who: Ehcache Founder and CTO - Greg Luck
When: March 4, 2010 6:30 PM
Where: Liquidnet - 498 7th Ave New York NY 10018 - GoogleMap
Description: In this NYJavaSIG HPC/Cloud Computing Workgroup meeting learn how to use Ehcache in the Cloud. Greg Luck, Ehcache founder and CTO with Terracotta will lead us through a hands-on workshop utilizing Ehcache in the Cloud. Greg will explain Ehcache's cloud computing capabilities, present the roadmap and elaborate on the the AWS EC2 and Eucalyptus initiatives Terracotta recently announced.

We will review Ehcache used with the Terracotta Server Array, it features and its impressive performance using Terracotta's January 2010 comparative testing results. Hundreds of thousands of deployments depend for their performance today on Ehcache and some of the largest companies in the world rely on the enterprise scale of Terracotta. Ehcache EX and FX bring unparalleled scale and performance. Next we will do a demo where we run up a cluster of Cache Servers backed with a Terracotta Server Array and show how the cluster can be visualised with Dev Console.

Finally, NYJavaSIG HPC/Cloud Computing Workgroup participants will be able to create two applications: a REST application will be written to interact with the Cache Server deployed at AWS EC2, and second, an application with an in-process cache, connected to the cluster. This is where bringing a laptop is most useful as you get to code the two clients in a language of your choosing: Java, Clojure, Scala, etc.

Our thanks to Lab49 and LiquidNet for hosting this meeting of the NYJavaSIG Cloud/HPC Workgroup
